The Maine coast is known for its fir trees, but Somerset County, which reaches all the way from central Maine to Canada, is rife with sugar maples. We rely on the Smith brothers up north in Skowhegan to keep us supplied with excellent maple syrup. Great on pancakes, waffles and French toast, or ice cream. We also love it poured over biscuits with a Sunday supper of baked beans.
